Ideal Vacuum Cube Quick Knob Assembly, Includes 1 Quick Knob, 1 Fastener and Fastening Bolt Quick and Easy To Install, Made With 6061-T6 Aluminum Alloy These Quick Knobs are designed to work with the Chamber Hinge and Glass viewing window plate assemblies to make opening and closing the Vacuum Cube easy and efficient. Each Quick Knob assembly includes 1 Quick Knob (connected to fastener) and 1 1/4-20 fastening bolt. Ideal Vacuum Cube Introduction Our Ideal Vacuum Cube is a modular high-vacuum chamber system, conceived to enable creativity and design flexibility in vacuum chamber system construction. Cubes can be stacked together into various shapes and configurations, with interchangeable plates offering a variety of features for connections, windows, and feedthroughs. Plates include 1/4-20 mounting threads on a standard 1 optical pattern for easy connection of hinges, posts, mounts, lenses, polarizers, and other accessories. These 1/4-20 x 1/4" long vacuum vented socket head cap screws (SHCS) are drilled through the head and shaft to vent fluid and gases trapped below the screw, making them necessary for vacuum applications. These vented scews are sold by the piece (1 each). When used as vacuum fasteners inside a vacuum chamber, typical solid shaft (unvented) screws trap gases in the void space between the screw tip and the bottom of the threaded hole. These trapped gases are slowly released into the evacuated chamber thus creating what is known as a virtual leak. Virtual leaks slow down pumping processes and can significantly prolong the time needed to reach the desired base pressure. These vented screws, also known as vacuum screws, help eliminate virtual leaks from high vacuum (HV) and ultra-high (UHV) systems. These 1/4-20 x 7/8" long vacuum vented socket head cap screws (SHCS) are drilled through the head and shaft to vent fluid and gases trapped below the screw, making them necessary for vacuum applications. These vented scews are sold by the piece (1 each). When used as vacuum fasteners inside a vacuum chamber, typical solid shaft (unvented) screws trap gases in the void space between the screw tip and the bottom of the threaded hole. The heater control operates at 100-240 VAC and can handle heaters up to 20A. The controller uses a type K thermocouple (sold separately). Temperature is monitored either directly on the heater control’s front panel, or via RS485/Modbus (DB9 female connector) remotely by a computer. Temperature is controlled by a user programmable set point. Two set point relays, wired through the DB9 connector, are available to activate other equipment (i.e., valve solenoids) when the set point is reached. These set point relays are rated for 1A maximum. The PID has many relay configurations which can be programmed according to the user ‘s requirements. The control system is housed in a strong and attractive ¼ DIN brushed aluminum enclosure. Hardware is included for table top use or panel mounting. Cutout for ¼ DIN panel mounting is 92mm x 92 mm (3.62x3.62 in.). Safety features include an over temperature audible alarm, and a thermal circuit breaker incorporated into the main power switch. These self-adhering mount K-Type thermocouples provide a rapid response (less than 0.15 seconds) and can be operated up to temperatures of 260°C (500°F) or can be cemented in place for use at temperatures up to 315°C (600°F). They use a polyimide and fiberglass junction insulation along with a fiberglass-insulated lead wire and require a patch length 1" by 0.375" width. It is important that the thermocouple be securely connected to the part being heated at all times so that good thermal contact in achieved during the complete bakeout cycle. Caution, if the thermocouple loses contact with the fitting, the temperature controller will measure a much lower temperature of the room air. This will result in a dangerously high run away heating of the vacuum-flanged fitting. We recommend that these thermocouples be directly adhered to the outer surface of the flange with the band nozzle heater installed over the thermocouple. This procedure will clamp the thermocouple onto the heated conflat flange. Information On Our Plug & Play PID Heater Control SystemsOur single zone PID heater control systems (P1011283) and (P107361) are designed to accurately measure and control the temperature of our conflat flange ThinBand nozzle heaters, as well as Ideal Vacuum Cube heater plates, and other vacuum heater and chiller units in real time. These heater control systems can operate at 120 or 240VAC with single or multiple heater loads up to 20A (2400W@120VAC, 4800W@240VAC). Information On Our Conflat Nozzle Type Band HeatersThese conflat 2.75 (2-3/4) inch nozzle heaters are designed to be tightened around the outer surface of the conflat flange. The thermal energy from the bakeout process helps desorb layers of water vapor in vacuum chambers allowing the molecular water vapor to be pumped away leading to a much quicker pump down time for ultra-high vacuum (UHV) applications. These conflat flange bakeout nozzle heaters are a low-cost solution to more expensive CF heating jackets. These conflat thin band nozzle heaters have a 2.75-inch inner diameter by 1.0-inch width, operate on 110 to 120 VAC input power, consume 300 Watts of power. and have 18-inch flying FFG Leads. They are tightened on to the conflat flange with an integrated socket head cap screw hardware component. Conflat ultra-high vacuum metal-to-metal seal with copper gasket and stainless-steel conflat flanges allows for baking of temperatures up to 450 °C. (maximum bakeout temperature can be limited by the choice of gasket material). These nozzle heaters work directly with our heating and temperature control units which incorporate temperature measurement input for a thermocouple. These items work together to make a complete CF heating and temperature control solution. Caution - it is important to understand the risk of being burned by heated vacuum flanges. The bakeout temperature of conflat flanges and fittings can reach 450 degrees Celsius! The vacuum system operator needs to be trained correctly on how to safely work around these very hot surfaces. Technical Details Patented Chamber System Our Ideal Vacuum Cubes have a patent pending design which features our Taper-Seal technology. Unlike other vacuum flange designs, such as, Conflat CF, KF/NW, or ISO-LF (large flange), which can be easily damaged when set on work surfaces, our Taper-Seal design protects critical sealing edges and o-rings from contact which can cause damage or contamination. Innovative Chamber Building Blocks Ideal Vacuum Cubes can easily be stacked together to build a complex, yet lightweight vacuum system (see graphic below). The outer edges of each vacuum cube feature hardware mounting sockets for easy cube-to-cube connections. A cube coupling kit includes the hardware needed to connect two cubes together. This allows scientists to creatively construct long or odd-shaped vacuum systems in a laboratory. Configurable Plates and Accessories The Vacuum Cube can be configured with a wide variety of plates and windows with many options. A Vacuum Cube can be fitted feedthroughs for electrical power, thermocouple temperature measurements, optical lasers light or imaging detectors, gas supply, or fluid flow for heat/cooling recirculation lines. A single 6x6x6 inch Cube can be pumped from atmosphere to 1x10-5 Torr in 2.5 minutes and below 1x10-6 Torr in around 15 minutes. (view curves graphic 1) close image This was accomplished using a 68 liters/second turbomolecular pump backed by a 110 liters/minute (3.3 cfm) dry scroll vacuum pump. We have also provided roughing pump down curves for popular Agilent Varian IDP-3 and SH-110 dry scroll pumps. The 6x6x6 Cube reaches base pressure of 300 mTorr for the IDP-3 (2.1 cfm) in less than 1 minute of pumping, and 50 mTorr for Agilent Varian SH-110 (3.3 cfm) in around 2 minutes.
