Senior Product Design Mechanical Engineer

Ideal Vacuum is seeking a senior engineer to work on the product development of mechanical scroll and multi-stage blower type vacuum pumps. They are called "dry pumps" because they do not use vacuum pump oil to seal the pumping stages. Being dry, they operate on a non-contact design, where high-speed rotors are mounted very close to stationary stators, this is in some ways like a turbo or supercharger in a performance sports car. The fast-rotating speed and close tolerance keeps airflow moving forward while limiting backwards migration of gases. A key technical challenge is to correctly address thermal expansion, to maintain the close tolerances between fix and moving components. Elegant and innovative designs are needed, which will correctly manage thermal expansion caused by the heat generated as the gases are compressed in the vacuum generating process; while simultaneously preventing component contact which would cause the pump to seize. This Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the Product Development team to design, analyze, test, and validate these new vacuum pumps through the full Product Life Cycle, from concept, the initial sale, to product service. This will involve developing and implementing innovative solutions, leading the product development process, and delivering these projects on time.

Electrical Engineer

Multidisciplinary skills such as 3D CAD or software engineering are highly beneficial. Staff Research Scientist Position Designing CW OPO Laser Devices

Ideal Spectroscopy is looking for a staff scientist with skills needed to build optical parametric oscillator laser prototype devices using modern periodic poled nonlinear crystal materials. These crystals allow for quasi-phase matching and have a high nonlinear coefficient (deff), which allows the OPO laser to oscillate from continuous wave (CW) pump laser sources. A qualified candidate will have experience operating, setting up experiments, and hands-on tuning/alignment of these types of laser systems. A good candidate will have experience at operating these types of complicated experiments and excel at collecting data to continue improving the product development. Staff Scientist Position Designing External Cavity Diode Laser (ECDL) Devices

Ideal Spectroscopy is looking for a staff scientist with skills needed to build external cavity diode laser (ECDL) prototype devices using modern diode lasers and to extend wavelength coverage in the blue/green regions of the spectrum. These devices will advance scientific research adding capabilities that are not available currently as most commercially ECDL are restricted to the red and near-infrared. Laser Spectroscopy and Chemical Physics - Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position in laser spectroscopy. A postdoctoral research associate position in laser spectroscopy is available immediately in the laser and spectroscopy research laboratory at Ideal Vacuum Products (IVP) in Albuquerque, NM. The research involves spectroscopic studies of main group, jet-cooled reactive intermediates produced in electric discharges, by laser ablation or by photodissociation. Prior experience with high-resolution spectroscopy, pulsed and/or CW laser sources, high vacuum and LIF techniques is required. The research associate will work closely with Tony Smith and Dennis Clouthier in the laboratory and will have the opportunity to be involved in ongoing research and development work in laser technology. This position is funded by IVP which offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
