Description

Spectroscopy 100 mm Glass Cell Holder and Tube Feedthrough Kit

This listing is for the sale of our 100mm Glass Cell Holder, which connects to the LeakFree-IR low-pressure gas cell. The holder contains the following components (pictured above):
  • 100mm long metal bracket
  • 4 each, 8-32 socket head cap screws
  • 2 each, 1/4" slots for mounting
  • 2 each, 1/4" Swagelok bulkhead style feedthroughs
These brackets mount to the bottom of the glass gas cells via 4 x 8-32 socket head cap screws which are included in the kit. They have 2 x 1/4" slots for mounting to 1/4" or M6 tapped optical posts or hardware in an optical setup. The bracket includes two 1/4" Swagelok bulkhead style feedthroughs which can accept 1/4" plastic or metal tubing. The user attaches their feed lines to one side of the bulkhead and then runs an additional short length from the other side of the bulked to their glass gas cells. If gas lines are pulled, the force is transferred into the metal bracket. The bracket is strong, and will take no damage, protecting the fragile glass stems on the glass gas cells.

The following provides more information on our Glass Gas Cells.

Ideal Vacuum offers our LeakFree-IR glass gas cells with a variety of window materials and gas line connections as well as 5cm and 10cm path lengths listed on this website. Not sure of your needs? Call us at (505)872-0037 to discuss your options.

Our Ideal Vacuum infrared LeakFree-IR glass gas cells are designed to fit in all IR and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometers. They are perfect for collecting low pressure IR spectra of gas phase samples; typically, vapor pressure of 1 to 10 Torr is all that is needed inside these 17 cm long gas cells to get a beautiful IR spectrum.

It is very important when shopping for a new IR gas cell that you consider how "Leak-Free" the gas cell will be. No one wants to add 10 Torr or so of sample vapor pressure to their low-pressure IR cell and see the pressure continuously rise as room air leaks in around the window seals! Our LeakFree-IR gas cells are the most "Leak-Tight" models available: the cell itself consists of a 25.4mm (1in.) outer diameter O-ring sealed Pyrex glass cell sandwiched between two 38.1 mm (1.5in.) diameter windows with #25 Viton O-rings. The assembly is held together by an industry-standard stainless-steel frame and mounting plate assembly that slides into a wide assortment of spectrometer cassettes. Each of our LeakFree-IR low pressure gas cells are assembled and helium leaked tested to ensure that they are a quality leak-tight product before they are shipped to our customers.

Benefits of using our LeakFree-IR Low-Pressure Gas Cells:
  • They are Leak-Tight
  • Each cell is helium leak tested for quality
  • Limit contamination of sample vapor with atmospheric gases
  • Limit reactions of sample vapor with atmospheric gases
  • Limit spectral overlap from atmospheric gas bands (e.g., H2O and CO2)
  • Recover pure gas sample vapor from IR cell using our NVacuo vacuum manifold components
  • Minimize waste streams, no need to evacuate gas sample vapors into the vacuum pump.
Each of our LeakFree-IR low-pressure gas cells are designed with dual gas connection stems (one for sample addition and the other for evacuation of the gas cell), allowing for easy and leak-free connections to gas fill and vacuum lines. Having dual gas connection stems is especially useful in high-throughput labs that require quick gas sample changeovers to minimizes the time needed between individual gas sample analyses runs. As added value each of the connection stems includes a ground glass stopcock valve so that the low-pressure sample vapor can be sealed inside our LeakFree-IR gas cell and isolated from the vacuum and gas fill lines. Our LeakFree-IR gas cells can be ordered with a variety of standard gas stem connection types:

Option 1, Ideal Vacuum LeakFree-IR Gas Cell Connection Stem Types:
  • #15 O-Ring Connections
  • 3/8 Inch OD Striaght Glass Tube Connections, Perfect For Swagelok Ultra Torr and Our NVacuo O-ring Compression Fittings
  • 12/30 Tapper Ground Glass Joint Connections
  • 18/9 Semi Ball and Socket Joint Connections
Option 2, Ideal Vacuum LeakFree-IR Gas Cell Window Material Types:
  • CaF2 Calcium Fluoride Windows
  • BaF2 Barium Fluoride Windows
  • KBr Potassium Bromide Windows
  • NaCl Sodium Chloride Windows
  • KCl Potassium Chloride Windows
Oftentimes, low-pressure IR gas cells require cleaning of the IR windows to remove sample vapor depositions. Our Ideal Vacuum LeakFree-IR gas cells make this chore easy. When cleaning or changing window materials, a single flat head screwdriver is all that is required to dismantle the glass cell from the stainless steel holder. The built-in plate alignment makes accurate re-assembly fast, easy, and secure.
