Ideal Vacuum Products is seeking a versatile, hands-on Construction Technician to support tenant improvements, small build-outs,
and facilities maintenance across multiple sites. This multi-trade role spans HVAC, Plumbing,
Drywall/Carpentry, and Electrical. The right candidate is safety-minded, detail-oriented, and
comfortable independently scoping, planning, and completing work to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
HVAC
- Install, service, and troubleshoot light commercial HVAC/R (split systems, RTUs, air handlers, mini-splits).
- Perform seasonal PMs: belts, filters, coil cleaning, refrigerant checks, airflow verification.
- Diagnose controls, thermostats, and sensors; document readings and corrective actions.
Plumbing
- Rough-in and finish fixtures; repair leaks, clogs, PRVs, and supply/drain lines (PVC, PEX, copper, black iron).
- Service water heaters, recirc pumps, and backflow devices; replace fixtures/valves as needed.
- Ensure code-compliant installs with clean, labeled shut-offs.
Drywall & Carpentry
- Frame small partitions; hang, tape, mud, texture, and finish to paint-ready quality.
- Repair wall/ceiling damage; install doors, hardware, trim, and backing as required.
- Perform paint prep and touch-ups for clean, professional results.
Electrical Repair
- Install/repair branch circuits, receptacles, switches, and lighting; replace ballasts/drivers and fixtures.
- Troubleshoot breakers, GFCI/AFCI, and low-voltage controls; assist with panel labeling and load tracking.
- Execute work to NEC and local code; follow lockout/tagout (LOTO).
General Construction & Facilities
- Scope materials/labor, procure parts, and close work orders with notes and photos.
- Perform routine inspections; maintain safe, orderly sites with strong housekeeping.
- Coordinate with vendors; support after-hours response on a rotating basis.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3–5+ years in multi-trade construction, facilities, or maintenance.
- HVAC: EPA Section 608 (Type II or Universal preferred).
- Electrical/Plumbing: Working knowledge of NEC/UPC; NM journeyman cards a plus.
- Tools/Equipment: Proficient with hand/power tools; comfortable with ladders, lifts, multimeters, manometers, gauges.
- Safety: OSHA-10/30 preferred; consistent PPE and LOTO usage.
- Soft Skills: Troubleshooting, documentation, customer service, and reliable follow-through.
- Other: Valid driver’s license, clean record, and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
- Lift/carry up to 50 lbs; frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing.
- Work on rooftops, in mechanical rooms, tight spaces, and outdoor conditions.
Schedule & Travel
- Daytime hours with occasional evenings/weekends as needed.
- Travel between local Albuquerque sites.
