Join Ideal Vacuum Products to rebuild and service today’s oil-free vacuum pumping technologies used in R&D, aerospace, and semiconductor fabrication.
We’re expanding our capability on dry scroll, dry multi-stage roots, dry screw, and hook & claw pump platforms from Edwards, Leybold, Ebara, Kashiyama, Agilent/Varian, Pfeiffer, and Alcatel Adixen.
If you’re a disciplined, tech-savvy technician who follows SOPs, documents work clearly, and loves building high-precision equipment, you’ll thrive here.
What You’ll Do
Rebuild & Precision Assembly
- Perform full teardowns, decon, inspection, and metrology on dry vacuum pumps; assess wear, clearances, and failure modes.
- Replace bearings, seals, scroll sets, rotors, timing gears, gaskets, valves, and elastomers with torque-spec and sequence accuracy.
- Set critical tolerances (axial/radial) using feeler gauges, indicators, bore gauges, micrometers, and manufacturer specs.
Test, Troubleshoot & Document
- Operate test stands; record base pressure, pumpdown curves, current draw, vibration, and temperature.
- Conduct helium leak tests and verify performance against OEM acceptance criteria.
- Log work in CMMS/ERP with model/SN, parts used, root-cause notes, and as-found/as-left data; generate concise service reports.
Quality & Safety
- Follow SOPs, EHS guidelines, ESD practices, and FOD prevention; maintain a clean bench and 5S standards.
- Communicate blockers early; collaborate with engineering on design updates and chronic failure trends.
- Support continuous improvement: fixtures, work instructions, test scripts, and parts kitting.

What You’ll Bring
- Education: AAS/Certificate in Mechatronics, Mechanical/Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related (or BS in ME/EE a plus).
- Experience: 1–5 years in precision assembly, rotating equipment, mechatronics, or instrument repair; OEM dry pump background is a plus.
- Computer Skills: Comfortable with Windows PCs; accurate data entry in ERP/CMMS; reads PDF manuals; basic Excel for logs.
- Assembly Discipline: Follows SOPs and torque sequences; documents steps; owns quality and traceability.
- Mindset: Reliable attendance, professional communication, team-oriented, continuous learner. “Back-yard mechanic” approaches are not a fit.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on with Edwards, Leybold, Ebara, Kashiyama, Agilent/Varian, Pfeiffer, or Adixen dry pumps.
- Basic vibration/thermal measurement, balancing concepts, or cleanroom habits.
- Forklift/OSHA-10; familiarity with kitting and parts traceability.
Success Looks Like
- On-time rebuilds that meet or exceed OEM test specs the first time.
- Zero documentation gaps; clean benches; tight inventory control of kits/parts.
- Visible reductions in repeat failures via strong root-cause notes and fixes.
Schedule, Pay & Benefits
- Full-time, on-site in Albuquerque, NM; Monday–Friday within shop hours.
- Competitive compensation based on experience and capability.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance; FSA/HSA options.
- 401(k) with company match; paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave.
- Training on platforms, test procedures, and company SOPs.
